As a Northern VA maternity photographer, I usually book sessions a few months in advance. I don’t have a ton of wiggle room outside of slow season! I’m a mama with a business and a regular old corporate job too, so last minute sessions can’t always be accommodated! With that said, I am always willing to try! That was the case for this beautiful fall session. Mama was due shortly after with her second little one and reached out at exactly the right moment! I am so thrilled we could work it out because they were such a joy to photograph! I am so happy with how these photos turned out.

Last Minute Photo Sessions

These are some things that might look different if you book last minute:

1. I may ask to chat on the phone or through text. This way we can finalize plans quickly versus the typical emailing back and forth.
2. We work together to figure out a location as usual, but many DMV locations require permits that need time to be submitted in advance. Therefore, expect that some locations won’t be an option if timelines are short.
3. I will work with you quickly on wardrobe options and guidance! Luckily, I always have dresses in the wardrobe for mamas and will often bring a few even just as backup.
4. Instead of paying a retainer and paying the rest of your session balance later, I will typically send an invoice for the whole fee if the session is only a few days away. It saves us both time and the inconvenience of paying twice!
