As a Capital Hill Maternity Photographer, I have made it my mission to utilize the timeless Washington, DC scenery this year. In 2025, the hefty, multi-hundred dollar permit requirement was lifted for photographers shooting non-commercial sessions in DC. I am SO excited about this as it was usually a deterrent for clients! When Meredith and Dan asked to capture their pregnancy in DC as an ode to the place that they have built their lives together, I was excited to finally take advantage of the beautiful backdrop DC has to offer.

With all of this said, the photo session Gods were not kind to us! This turned out to be the windiest session of my career! It was a touch uncomfortable but I think we not only pulled it off, it made for a memorable and beautiful session. There will certainly be stories to tell their little one about their maternity session! This couple is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. I think there are definitely clients that I feel an instant connection with, and this was one of them! I am so excited for them as they embark on this beautiful chapter!

Washington, DC provides so many clean, white backdrops to photograph against. I absolutely love how light, muted colors photograph. However, I also think there are opportunities for pops of color to look classic for sessions. Meredith’s stunning Tuckernuck dress was perfect for this winter session! It brought a warmth to the photographs that was perfect for the backdrop and time of year. I also love the way that lace detail complimented the dress but also added movement!
